The short answer
DocuPipe is a schema based document extraction API priced in credits: Growth is $90 a month for 3,000 credits, Scale $500 for 25,000, and a typical page uses 3 credits, so costs rise with page count. PDFxlsx bills per file instead. Teams converting long bank statements, ledgers or reports to Excel usually pay less here, from $49 a month, with $99 covering 500 files of any length.
One 12 page statement, two ways to count it
DocuPipe's pricing page explains the flow most customers use. You upload a document and it is parsed at 1 credit per page, then you extract structured data from it at 2 more credits per page. A 12 page bank statement therefore costs 36 credits before anyone looks at a row.
We count the same statement as one file. That is the whole difference in billing models, and it matters most for exactly the documents finance teams convert every month: statements, general ledgers, aging reports and rent rolls that run to dozens of pages.

DocuPipe pricing by plan
DocuPipe publishes three self serve plans and an enterprise volume ladder. The figures below are the ones its pricing page uses.
Launch
Pay as you go
No monthly commitment. Top-offs of at least 1,000 credits at $0.05 per credit, so the smallest purchase is $50.
Growth
$90 a month
3,000 credits, which is about 1,000 pages at 3 credits each. More at the $0.05 top-off rate.
Scale
$500 a month
25,000 credits, about 8,300 pages. Top-offs at the same $0.05 rate.
Enterprise
Per page
From 200,000 pages at $0.015 to $0.025 a page, falling with volume, custom above 2 million.
Every per page service has a minimum of 1 credit per document. Credits reset monthly and do not roll over outside enterprise contracts. DocuPipe lists ISO 27001 certification and a HIPAA BAA on all paid plans.
What five real workloads cost each month
DocuPipe cost is the cheapest mix of plan and top-off blocks for the pages at 3 credits each. Ours is the monthly plan that covers the file count and seats, taken from our pricing page. Where DocuPipe is cheaper, the table says so.
| Workload | Pages | DocuPipe | PDFxlsx | Lower bill |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solo bookkeeper, 30 bank statements of 4 pages | 120 | $50 (Launch) | $49 (Starter) | PDFxlsx, $1 less |
| AP clerk, 100 two page invoices | 200 | $50 (Launch) | $99 (Plus) | DocuPipe, $49 less |
| Accounting firm of 3, 200 statements of 8 pages | 1,600 | $190 (Growth plus 2 top-offs) | $99 (Plus) | PDFxlsx, $91 less |
| Finance team of 5, 450 reports of 10 pages | 4,500 | $500 (Scale) | $99 (Plus) | PDFxlsx, $401 less |
| Lending ops team of 8, 1,500 files of 6 pages | 9,000 | $600 (Scale plus 2 top-offs) | $199 (Pro) | PDFxlsx, $401 less |
Short documents in small numbers favor DocuPipe's pay as you go credits. Once files run to several pages each, the per page meter overtakes a flat per file plan. Parse only jobs at 1 credit a page cost a third of the DocuPipe figures, but return text rather than structured tables.

Who moves from DocuPipe to a per file converter
Bookkeepers with long statements
A month of client statements is where per page credits hurt most. The workflow is on PDF to Excel for bookkeepers.
Finance teams closing the month
Ledgers and aging reports go straight into reconciliations. See PDF to Excel for finance teams.
Ops teams without a developer
If nobody on the team wants to maintain schemas, upload in batches of 20 instead, or call the PDF to Excel API later.
Checking the switch with your own files
01
Export last month's page count
Your DocuPipe usage shows the credits you burned. Divide by three for pages.
02
Upload the longest files
Statements and reports are where the billing models split. Scans go through OCR.
03
Tie out the totals
Amounts arrive as numbers, so a SUM against the closing balance proves every row came across.
04
Pick by file count
50 files on Starter, 500 on Plus, unlimited on Pro. Pages never enter the math.

DocuPipe pricing and alternative questions
DocuPipe bills in credits. Launch is pay as you go with top-offs of at least 1,000 credits at $0.05 each, Growth is $90 a month for 3,000 credits and Scale is $500 a month for 25,000 credits. Parsing costs 1 credit per page and structured extraction 2 more, so a typical page uses 3 credits.
A credit is DocuPipe's billing unit. Its pricing page lists Parse at 1 credit per page and Standardize, the schema based extraction step, at 2 credits per page, with a minimum of 1 credit per document. Credits reset every month and unused credits do not roll over unless you are on an enterprise plan.
At 3 credits a page, Growth works out to about $0.09 a page (3,000 credits for $90 covers 1,000 pages) and Scale to about $0.06 a page. Top-off credits at $0.05 each cost $0.15 a page. Enterprise volume rates start at 200,000 pages and are quoted per page.
DocuPipe gives new accounts signup credits, 200 by default and more for an eligible work email, and then moves you to Launch with paid top-offs. On PDFxlsx, a free account converts 3 whole files so you can check the Excel output before choosing a monthly plan from $49.
If the goal is the transaction table in Excel rather than a JSON payload, look for a tool that bills per file, because statements run long. PDFxlsx Plus is $99 a month for 500 files of any length and up to 5 seats, so a 12 page statement costs the same as a one page invoice.
Yes, for structured output. DocuPipe extracts data into a schema you define or let it generate, then returns JSON and offers an Excel download of the results. That is the right design for developers feeding an app. PDFxlsx skips the schema: every table the PDF contains becomes its own sheet.
DocuPipe states it is ISO 27001 certified and offers a BAA for HIPAA compliance on all paid plans. If you process patient records or claims and need a signed BAA from your extraction vendor, that is a real reason to choose DocuPipe over a general PDF to Excel converter.
DocuPipe compares itself with Docsumo, Docparser and Extend, and review sites list it next to Nanonets, Rossum and the cloud APIs from Amazon, Microsoft and Google. For teams that only need PDF tables in Excel, a per file converter is the narrower and usually cheaper category.
