Need the tables, not a JSON payload?

Mindee Alternative Comparing Mindee OCR API Pricing to PDF to Excel Billed per File

Mindee is a developer API that bills a monthly platform fee plus a credit for every page it reads, and returns JSON you still have to turn into a spreadsheet. If what you actually need is the tables in your statements, invoices and reports as an Excel file, convert them here: one file is one conversion, scans are read automatically, and every table lands on its own sheet.

For finance and ops teams, and for developers who want XLSX back from an API.

The short answer

Mindee prices its document API as a platform fee plus page credits: $29 a month on Starter and $119 on Pro, plus $30 for 500 pages up to $1,171 for 25,000, with one page equal to one credit and overage billed 20 percent above the bundle rate. It is the better buy for field extraction inside an application and for high volumes of one page documents. For long documents that need to end up in Excel, a per file converter costs less: 300 twenty page loan files use 6,000 Mindee credits, and are 300 conversions on our $99 Plus plan.

Why teams look for a Mindee alternative

Mindee does what it says: it reads documents and returns structured data with confidence scores. People who go looking for something else usually hit one of four walls, and none of them is about accuracy. They are about the shape of the output and the shape of the bill.

Output

JSON is not a spreadsheet

The API returns fields and line items as JSON. Someone still has to write, host and maintain the code that turns that into a workbook an analyst can open.

Meter

Every page is a credit

A twelve page bank statement is twelve credits, and asking for confidence scores makes each page 1.5. Long documents drive the bill, not the number of files.

Fixed fee

A platform fee before any page

Starter carries a $29 monthly platform fee on top of the credits, and Pro, which adds unlimited seats, carries $119. The smallest working setup is $59 a month.

Carry over

Unused credits expire

Credits end with the billing period, and going over costs the unit rate plus 20 percent. Uneven month end volume means paying for slack or paying the surcharge.

How much does Mindee cost?

Mindee's bill has two parts: a platform fee that depends on the plan, and a credit bundle that depends on how many pages you send. These are the USD figures from Mindee's own pricing page on monthly billing.

Plan Platform fee Includes
Starter $29 a month ($312 a year) 1 seat, all models, confidence scores, polygons, utilities, community support
Pro $119 a month ($1,284 a year) Unlimited seats, live chat support, data processing localization
Enterprise Custom, annual Minimum 500,000 credits a year, SLAs, dedicated account manager
Credits a month Bundle price Per page
500 $30 $0.06
2,500 $141 $0.0564
5,000 $265 $0.053
10,000 $498 $0.0498
25,000 $1,171 $0.0468

One processed page is one credit; a page with a confidence score is 1.5 credits; utilities such as split, crop and classify are 0.25 credits a page. Annual billing sells credits by the year (6,000 for $324 up to 300,000 for $12,648) and saves about 10 percent. Mindee geolocates its currency, so European visitors see euro prices. Confirm on Mindee's site before you buy, because vendors change prices without notice.

Mindee vs PDFxlsx on five monthly workloads

A page meter and a file meter price the same work very differently. For each workload below, the Mindee column is the cheapest monthly Starter bill we could build from its list prices: every credit bundle tried, with the 20 percent overage added where a smaller bundle plus overage beats the next bundle up.

Monthly workload Files Pages Mindee Starter, cheapest PDFxlsx plan
40 one page vendor invoices 40 40 $59 (500 credit bundle) Starter, $49
400 one page vendor invoices 400 400 $59 (500 credit bundle) Plus, $99
45 twelve page bank statements 45 540 $62 (500 credit bundle plus overage) Starter, $49
300 twenty page loan files 300 6,000 $358 (5,000 credit bundle plus overage) Plus, $99
2,000 one page receipts 2,000 2,000 $167 (500 credit bundle plus overage) Pro, $199

Mindee wins two of these rows, and it wins them fairly. Four hundred one page invoices fit its smallest bundle, and two thousand receipts come in under our Pro plan even after paying the overage surcharge on 1,500 of them. Short documents in bulk are what a page meter is good at. The picture flips once documents get long. Forty five twelve page statements are already cheaper here, and three hundred twenty page loan files cost several times more on Mindee than on our Plus plan, because every one of those 6,000 pages is a credit.

Divide pages by files before you compare

Take last month's documents and divide total pages by total files. Around one page per file, Mindee's credits are cheap and features should decide. Past about ten pages per file, a page meter is mostly charging you for length. Statements, loan packages and financial reports sit well past that line.

Then price the code around the API

The Mindee column is the vendor bill only. If the data has to reach Excel, add the time to define the fields, write the JSON to workbook step and keep it working when a supplier changes a layout. For a team without a developer on hand, that is usually the larger cost.

Mindee and PDFxlsx side by side

The two products overlap on invoices, receipts and bank statements and then serve different buyers. The rows where Mindee is stronger are marked as plainly as ours.

Where Mindee is the better buy

If you are building a product or an internal system that needs specific values from documents, such as a total to post, a due date to schedule or an ID number to verify, Mindee is built for that. Confidence scores let your code decide what a human should check, and at tens of thousands of one page documents a month its per page rate is hard to beat.

Where a per file converter wins

If the destination is a spreadsheet, you are paying for an API and then paying again in code to get back to a table. Underwriters spreading statements, analysts pulling schedules out of reports and AP teams reconciling line items in Excel get the workbook directly, and a 40 page file costs the same as a one page one.

Who switches, and what they convert

Lenders and underwriters

Months of statements per borrower, spread in a workbook. When you convert bank statements from PDF to Excel by the file, long statements stop driving the bill.

AP and procurement teams

Line items checked against purchase orders in Excel. To convert invoice PDFs to Excel with every line row intact, no field schema is needed first.

Analysts with long reports

Annual reports, operating statements and price lists with many tables. Converting large PDFs to Excel is where a page meter hurts most.

From PDF to workbook without a field schema

1

Upload the PDF

In the browser, or POST it to the API on Pro. A 40 page file counts once.

2

Tables are found

Digital pages are parsed directly; scanned pages go through OCR first. Nothing to configure.

3

Check the columns

Headers, dates and amounts come back in their own columns, amounts kept numeric so totals add up.

4

Download XLSX or CSV

Or run up to 20 files in one batch on Plus and Pro and download them together.

Developers who want the spreadsheet back from code can read how the PDF to Excel API works: three endpoints, a bearer token and a flat monthly price. If you only need the grid and not the fields, the PDF table extractor page shows what comes out of a messy multi table PDF, and month end folders are covered on batch PDF to Excel conversion.

Comparing the other document APIs as well? Per page and per document meters are worked through for Veryfi pricing, Amazon Textract pricing and Azure Document Intelligence pricing, and the platforms closest to Mindee are compared on the Nanonets alternative, Docsumo alternative and Lido alternative pages.

Mindee alternative questions

It depends on the output you need. If your application needs named fields such as invoice number, vendor and total with confidence scores, compare Mindee with other field extraction APIs like Veryfi, Nanonets or Amazon Textract. If you need the tables in a PDF as a spreadsheet, a converter that returns XLSX and bills per file is usually simpler and cheaper on long documents.

Mindee charges a platform fee plus a credit bundle. On monthly billing in USD the Starter platform fee is $29 and Pro is $119, and credit bundles run from $30 for 500 credits to $1,171 for 25,000. One processed page is one credit. The smallest paid setup is therefore $59 a month for 500 pages, and Enterprise starts at 500,000 credits a year.

Mindee offers a 14 day trial covering 500 pages with no credit card. After that every plan carries a monthly platform fee plus credits. Our free account converts 3 files and lets you download the XLSX or CSV with a watermark sheet, so you can check the output on your own documents before choosing a plan.

Mindee keeps processing and bills the extra pages automatically at your bundle's unit rate plus a 20 percent overage surcharge. Unused credits expire at the end of the billing period and do not roll over. That combination means a team with uneven monthly volume either pays for credits it does not use or pays the surcharge in busy months.

Mindee is an API that returns structured JSON: the fields and line items you define, with confidence scores and positions on the page. Turning that JSON into a workbook is code you write, or a no code step you build around it. PDFxlsx returns the tables themselves as an XLSX or CSV file, each table on its own sheet.

Yes. PDFxlsx has a REST API on the Pro plan at $199 a month with unlimited conversions: POST a PDF, poll one status endpoint, then download XLSX or CSV or read the parsed tables as JSON. It bills per file, so a 40 page statement costs the same as a one page invoice.

Per page. Mindee's pricing page states that one processed page equals one credit, one page with a confidence score equals 1.5 credits, and utilities such as splitting or cropping cost 0.25 credits per page. A twelve page bank statement therefore uses at least twelve credits.

For statements that end up in a spreadsheet, a per file converter is usually the better fit, because statements are long and a page meter charges for every page. Mindee is the stronger choice when the statement data feeds an application that needs specific fields and confidence scores rather than a workbook.

Convert your longest PDF as one file

Upload the document that would cost the most credits on a page meter, check the sheet against the original, and choose a plan by how many files you convert a month. Monthly plans cancel any time, and yearly billing is $288 for Starter. Details are on the pricing page.
